The library of the Catholic University of Leuven was badly damaged in both World Wars but is now fully restored.

The Pope's College dates from 1523 and has been home to thousands of universty students for almost 500 years.

The mediaeval beguinage in Leuven was once a refuge for hundreds of single women and dates from the early 13th century.

Belgium is, of course, famous for its beer. They claim to have over 250 different varieties - but we didn't have time to try them all!

The station in Antwerp dates from the early 19th century, and is one of the nost beautiful railway stations in the world.

The main square of Antwerp has many marvellous buildings which reflect the historical importance of the city.

In the village of Hoegaarden, famous for its wheat beer, we visited a small brewery and tasted two of its excellent beers ...

... before completing our short exchange with an outdoor Farewell Party at the former chapter house of the surprisingly large church.
