In Varel we visited the town museum, part of which was inside a restaurant

When we arrived in Braunschweig/Peine we were welcomed with an excellent lunch.

and spent a very enjoyable evening at a barbecue in the garden of one of our hosts.

In Braunschweig we saw the famous lion statue created by Duke Henry 'the Lion' in 1166,

Most of us also attended a concert in the main square of the nearby resort of Dangast

while in Peine we helped to recreate a historic attack on Peine by soldiers from Braunschweig!
